Becki reports that as expected, recovery is not a straight line, and day three was not a top ten day. According to the doctor, at day three the brain is having its worst day of swelling with blood rushing to the brain to work on healing.
She has been resting all day today and sitting up to help reduce the swelling--and the pain meds are doing their job. The Doctor is monitoring her condition and is in touch with Rod for ANY concerns or questions about what is normal.
Good news-- this part of the process is par for the course-- and if anyone is going to master the course, it's Becki -- a role model for us all !
And Bravo to Rod for Oscar winning caregiving!
We are ALL optimistic that tomorrow will be a better day.
Words of encouragement from her friends and family to the blog comment area make her feel really good. !!!!
Tune in tomorrow for more news from the Bubble Busting front.... Nancy
Hi Becki, I hope today was the worst day of the recovery and every day from now on just gets better and better. Keeping you in my thoughts, girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteSimon was VERY vocal tonight, Becki, when I visited and fed him and Zoe. I believe he was asking me to tell you he misses you and really hopes you'll be feeling better tomorrow, and to hurry home! :-). I don't think he likes my tummy rubs as well as yours........

As three does not equal ten, know also that infinity does not follow rules and you are infinite. Shine on.

Well, you can't trust the number 3 anyway ;) Day #4 ought to be better.
ReplyDeleteThe cats suggest that you find a pool of sunshine to sleep in, a cozy blanket to sleep under, and a can of tuna to snack on. You might want to pass on the last option, but the first two sound like excellent ideas.
It was cold here again today. The low at our place was 26 and the high was 28. Glad you're in Southern Cal where it is warmer.
I hope tomorrow is a better day.
Nancy, thanks for the updates. I really appreciate the daily reports.
Hope today is so much better. God Bless!
ReplyDeleteIt was 3 Degrees at Willamette yesterday when the Altair Group started out! Your name came up several times...everyone is thinking about you and wants you to have a speedy recovery Becki! Hope day 4 is better! Hugs, Pam & Bill
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time. Hard to believe now but you will look back on this in a few years and realize just how marvelous this treatment and recovery are and how fortunate you were to find this doctor and have the resources to get the surgery. Life is so precious. Everyone we asked to pray for you are continuing to ask for status reports. You'll have to come to The Dalles and go to church with us one Sunday to meet most of them. Love, Gene and Dixie
ReplyDeletePat Martin and I are watching your blog and thinking of you as we sit bundled up in our parkas while snowbirding in Arizona. Glad that you are doing so well - one day at a time is all it takes and all you need to do. I am so impressed by your attitude and so glad that you and Rod found each other. Sandi Sanders
